Balancing Plates - Aligning the Neck #2

It's a different process

In the last process, the actual and the ideal were compared to provide the impetus for alignment.  That process consisted of comparing the actual to an ideal and asking the body if it can move in the direction of the ideal.  This process is just the opposite!  You have a look at the actual and ask it, "where are you trying to get to?" and then you give it a little (mental) nudge in that direction and wait.

Actual Emphasized Result - maybe Step

Ask for the actual.  (whatever it is!)

Emphasize the actual.

  • if something is left, think of it more left.
  • if something is right, think of it more right.
  • if something is high, think of it higher.
  • if something feels twisted, think of it more so.
  • if something feels stuck, imagine it's even more stuck!

Be patient - count to 60 or so.

In this example, you can think of c6 to the left of c7 or c7 to the right of c6 - or both.  You then 'hold that thought' for a count of 60 or so and if "life is good," you'll feel c6 & c7 line up.  If it doesn't move, consider an up/down or twisty relationship.

c6 is to the left of c5, or c5 to the right of c6 - or both.  also, c4 is to the left of c5, or c5 to the right of c4 - or both.   It might be easiest to think of c4 as drifting right.  Again, you 'hold that thought' for a count of 60 or so and if "life is good," you'll feel the bones line up.  If they don't, consider an up/down or twisty relationship.

(It's not nearly so confusing when you get used to it!  just think of things going in whichever direction they have moved toward.)

For the skull, Use the blue ball to help with the alignment.  If the Ball is to the left of the skull, think of it going more left and the spine going to the right.

This technique is another technique also based upon 'informing the body' what it is doing. In this particular technique, I like to think of acknowledging what the body is trying to accomplish.  ie c2 is wanting to drift left, for instance, and I'm acknowledging that, and then it doesn't have to do it anymore.

Still 'working on' the esoteric connections of the neck to spirit!

Have you had a chance to play with this in your riding?  What is your experience with this?

"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities."
