Modality: Appreciation

Good Vibes

 

Expressing appreciation is a deceptively simple idea - is really all that much?  YES!  Indeed it is!

The technique: 

  • be aware of what you appreciate at this moment about yourself, about your gifts, good qualities, or accomplishments   - OR - 
  • be aware of what you appreciate at this moment about someone else's gifts, good qualities, or accomplishments.
  • Say aloud, even if you're alone, whichever is appropriate:
    • "I appreciate myself and my gift of ...
    • "I appreciate myself and my quality of ...
    • "I appreciate myself and my accomplishment of ...
    • "I appreciate <___> and her/his gift of ... 
    • "I appreciate <___> and her/his quality of ...
    • "I appreciate <___> and her/his accomplishment of ...
  • If you aren't 'feeling it,' perhaps take a moment to connect with a more pleasant time in your life or a more joyful experience. Perhaps there is a tender moment you can access.  Be in that place for a few seconds and then consider this: 

    "It's time somebody told me that I am lovely, good and true and that my essence shines bright. It's time somebody told me that my love is complete and that my strength and warmth uplift.

    It's time somebody told me how much they want, love and need me, how much my spirit helps set them free. It's time someone told me that joy is in my smile and that my eyes fill the world with light. 

    It's time somebody told me. It's time for me to tell me."

     

The benefit: 

Love is the quality of our soul and appreciation, an expression of love, is our connection to our soul. When we are out of sync and in chaotic states, it's harder to resonate with appreciating ourselves and others or with receiving appreciation from others. We are no longer energized by the force of love.

When we take a moment and are able to remember with gratitude all that we have been given, especially in difficult circumstances, it automatically moves us to a higher state of coherence. By appreciating yourself and others you feel uplifted and your pain, caused by a non-coherent state, automatically feels less intense.

In sacred writings it is said that gratitude opens the gate to Divine grace. It is appreciation for who you are and all that you have been given that brings a sense of contentment, peace of mind and love. When you remember the Divine with gratitude you will be content, no matter how difficult your life circumstances may be.

Appreciation is also an aspect of being oriented. Appreciating yourself and others, or being appreciated, empowers you and encourages you to reach for the best in yourself and to encourage others to achieve the best in themselves. When you appreciate what you have learned, it helps you to integrate your new learning in a practical and active way in your daily life. Appreciation always leads to relaxation, pleasure and bonding. The ultimate purpose of appreciation is to help you meet every challenge with excitement, success and joy.
