Grounding by 'Laying Around'ReallyThe benefit to 'laying around' to find your ground is deep. Although at first it may seem comical. (What? I'm going to lay around and my life will change?) And I confess, this was a 'sleeper' for me. I could say the words, had been saying the words for years, but it would be many years before I got the truth of it. Here's the words:
Now to the truth of it! Which is one of those things where you've got to experience it. To put the words to the life experience. (So if these connections don't seem obvious, simply file this info away and let it percolate back up at some point in the future. In the here and now, in the present, you can play with it and see what happens.) The technique: exploration 1: this one will take some time, like 30 or 40 minutes. I usually do it as I'm falling asleep. A better time would be when I'm waking up! Or another really good time is before your yoga practice. You will get comfy -- put bolsters or pillows under your knees or between your knees, books under your head, whatever you need to become comfortable. While you are in this position, ask yourself these questions, scanning the body for the answers, pausing a minute or so between questions:
And there's probably more questions! After you've been on this side for a while, like 7 - 10 minutes, gently roll onto the next side. Like if you were on your side, roll onto your left or right sides. If you were on a left or right side, roll onto your back or front side. When you ask the same questions, notice the answers are actually different! You now have different parts of the body in contact with the ground. When you've been there 7 - 10 minutes, you'll go to the third side, repeat, and then go to the last side, so that all sides are in contact with the ground. You are establishing a very primal connection, one which we tend to rush past in our technical, advanced society, which is, if you keep with it, really the foundation for the rest of your life. Something so very important and we tend to overlook it. I learned this in my Body Mind Centering classes from Lisa Clark. Here are some links to what she's written about this: http://www.embodiyogalisaclark.com/news/article/embodiyoga-podcasts the podcasts are not linking in at the moment. :(
exploration 2: After awhile, you'll notice the ground isn't quite so solid and for sure not uncomfortable. When you're standing and walking, you can ask the same questions. (Although you won't be switching your sides! Simply remain upright.) This will get you aware of how your physical feet connect with the physical ground. You are mapping where your physical body is in space, developing your proprioception. The next step is to connect energetically. While keeping the map of your physical body intact, allow for pretend 'roots' to grow down from your feet into the ground. Let them grow slowly, a few inches at a time, while paying attention to what happens to your body. There will be a depth at which your body changes and you will feel as though you've 'come home.' The fight/flight will calm down. The body will quit efforting. It may take awhile! Keep playing with it.
What benefits have you noticed? For the next month or so, maybe play with this whenever it crosses your mind, and then at the end of the month maybe reflect a moment on whether or not things have changed during the course of the month? Let me know how it goes! Or - if you'd like some one-on-one attention, call for a session.

BooksI love books! These top three books help explain some about Resonance Repatterning® and PSYCH-KTM. I've linked into Amazon for convenience. (ha) I used to have an 'a-store;' those are gone now! And so are my reviews of things. If you go to the Old Favorites links, the info is old but there are some reviews there. When you are interested in getting a book, a lot of these are available at https://openlibrary.org/.
